Moscow hotel suggestion around $300 per night???
HotelMoscow We (3 adults) had planned a weekend trip to Moscow from Munich in late October but the prices for hotels are just too painful to believe. We had wanted to stay at one of the Marriott properties near the center but we couldn’t see anything under $600 a night (incl. the recently opened up Courtyard). Does anyone know of any decent hotels in the city center that could accomodate 3 adults in one room (i.e. 3 sep beds) for about $300 a night? I have a feeling I know the answer but thought I would post this before we scratch the idea altogether.

With the closure of the Ukraina earlier this year for refurbishment and the ongoing demolition of the Rossiya, the less expensive accommodation options in Moscow are disappearing fast! You are unlikely to find an inexpensive Western brand name in the city centre.
You might want to get quotes from the Arbat (http://www.president-hotel.ru/arbat/?lang=Eng) and Budapest (http://www.hotel-budapest.ru/eng/about.html) Hotels in the city centre although I suspect their prices have been going up as well now that the cheaper competition is gone. They tend to get overlooked because they are considered more “Soviet”. However they could probably arrange a triple room (the Ukraina had no trouble last year for me and it worked out at about $150 a night).
Further outside the city centre, but on a Metro line, is the Izmailovo Hotel Complex (http://www.izmailovo.ru/eng/), originally built for the 1980 Olympics. It might be your best budget option, and the Metro into the centre everyday would not break the bank!
You could also want to investigate short term apartment rentals, although again prices have been going up fast and they are no longer the good value they used to be.

Take a look at Holiday Inn 2 for 1 rates

I’ve heard good reviews for the Golden Ring Hotel of late. Not as expensive as the Marriott

Not a big input but I would like to suggest the Courtyard using the Marriott Rewards points. Only cat 3 and it’s wonderfully located. If the MR program allows it, you could purchase the points and use them to book a room and pay less!

We have booked clients for around $300 (+tax) in October at the Marriott Grand and Tverskaya for weekends in the fall, so your price expectation is reasonable.
